Levels of Play

Level of play is determined by the participants date of birth according to the USA Hockey and the Minnesota Amatuer Hockey Association (MAHA) guidelines. Within these groups, BBLYHA has defined level of play as:

Mini Mites

• Players in preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade
• Focus on skill development
• Instructional scrimmages

Sr. Mites

• Players in 2nd and 3rd grade
• League play (without any win/loss records)
• Year end Jamboree tournament

Squirts

• Players in 4th and 5th grade
• Competitive level:A, B1, B2, and C
• One (1) tournaments and District 10 year-end tournament

Peewees

• Players in 6th and 7th grade
• Competitive level:A, B1, B2, and C
• Checking begins
• Two (2) tournaments

Bantams

• Players in 8th and 9th grade
• Competitive level:A, B1, B2, and C
• Two (2) tournaments

Eligibility

BBLYHA offers programs for boys and girls living within the boundaries of the Becker and Big Lake School Districts.

BBLYHA will accept player applications from school districts that do not have an organized hockey program.

Level of play is determined by the participants date of birth according to the USA Hockey and the Minnesota Hockey Association (MaHA) guidelines.
