Routine Matters

" Minutes of the December meeting were approved as presented.
" Agenda was approved with addition of Becker & Big Lake Business Expo, LAMP Rep, Elections, Fundraising Ideas for Next Year.
" BBLYHA Treasurer Chelle Nelson reported that the Board had met prior to this meeting to discuss and decide on delinquent accounts totaling $4,900. Account balance of $3,000 less tournaments. S/P Report approved as presented.
" BBLIA Account Chelle Nelson stated no activity on account since previous month. S/P Report approved as presented.

Outdoor Ice Availability
Mike Gonrowski reported that Big Lake rink will open Friday, January 9. Becker rink is open but in fair condition. Tim Houghton and David Olson were helping to flood the Becker rink. Call Community Ed to book a rink.

SKATE Program
Julie Carlson has agreed to be the SKATE Program Coordinator. She will invite the Dist. 10 SKATE Rep to the February meeting to explain the SKATE Program. Forms should be sent to the Association PO Box.

District 10
John Gilbertson reported on the information he received from District 10.
" Insurance was discussed heavily at the last District meeting.
" Any high school kids helping need to be handled as a coach.
" Parent/Kid games are not covered by our insurance
" Get fees early so insurance is on quickly
" Major Penalties--checking from behind a lot
" Encouraging skaters to become game officials at $16/hour.
" B1 and B2 in District 10 Tournament and we need to provide volunteers
" Squirts will be required to use the Blue Pucks beginning the 2004/2005 season.

Coupon Books Deb Levens was not present to report.
" Winners of the selling contest will be announced at the February meeting.
" Motion To reduce the cost of the remaining coupon books to $15 each. s/p

Business Expos
"
Big Lake Business Expo will be held March 14 from 11-3 pm at Liberty Elementary. Volunteers need to staff the Association table and to sell coupon books, water bottles, bottles of water, etc.
" Lisa will contact Tammy to find out when the Becker Expo will be held and to get people scheduled to staff the table.

Volunteer Hours and Fees
" Need to ask Tammy to report on the status of volunteer hours still outstanding.
" Agenda item for future meeting(s) is to discuss the need and effect of raising our fees for volunteering.

Dodge Drives Minnesota Promotion
John Gilbertson was only aware of 7 certificates completed. Extremely disappointing that such easy funds are not earned by our parents for their/the association. Suggestion was made that next year we need to set up at the MAC with St. Cloud. This year St. Cloud had 7 cars present during Try Outs/Evaluations.

Jerseys/Company Sponsors Johna Nelson will attempt to get business sponsors ($2,000/team/year) at Expos. M/S/P

ACE Coordinator Report
" Mike Gonrowski reported that he currently is researching the Evaluation Process of other associations. Registration will be earlier next year. The Board will be meeting February 9 to go over the process this year and discuss the process for next year.
" There will be Dry Land during the summer months for fundraising for the Association.
" There will be Dry Land and ice before Evaluations next year. This will be available for those who want to take advantage of it. Only those participating will be billed. Evaluation ice bills will be billed separately.
" Working on a policy for determining Head Coaches (interviews, application, etc.)

Spring Leagues
John Gilbertson reported that Spring Leagues will be forming soon. Showcase Minnesota, for 14-17 per team and $1,950 per team, will be held April 20-May 5. Contact John if interested in any Spring leagues.

Equipment
Tim Houghton was not present to report. An inventory of all equipment and supplies needs to be done.

Ice Scheduler
Brenda Graber reported that Teresa Tonnelson has resigned and will not continue in this position. Thanks to Teresa for a great job this year. Any volunteers? Board will address at February meeting.

Arena
" Lois reported that she has left messages for Bob Ballentine but has not heard from him. Outstanding bills for services to date owed to Compass and TSP of $700.
" Lois expressed the need that more people get involved. If anyone is interested in seeing our own ice come to fruition, then they must let those folks (ie. Mayor, City Council, LAMP, George Wallin, etc.) know of their wants and needs.

End of Year Banquet
Discussion was held and decision was made that we will have an All-Association Year End Banquet. Date will be chosen at the February meeting. Kevin Censor will be able to get trophies for each skater. Motion Kevin Censor should order a trophy for each skater in the association. S/P Johna will call Kevin and then contact Team Managers.

LAMP Rep at Meetings
LAMP has requested a representative attend the LAMP meetings. Mike Gonrowski has agreed to take this on.

Fundraisers
Proposal was raised that we only participate in two fundraisers per year. Recommendation was that one of these could be a calendar fundraiser as Princeton does. Further discussion at upcoming meetings.

Gambling License
Rich has agreed to get the paperwork started.

Elections
